Have You Gotten Your Flu Shot Yet?

Who:

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is recommending an annual influenza vaccination for everyone age 6 months or older.

What:

The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by viruses leading to a mild to severe illness and occasionally death. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccine yearly.

The 2010-2011 vaccine will protect against the H1N1 and two other influenza viruses.

How:

The influenza vaccine is a “flu shot” which is an inactivated vaccine (containing killed virus) that is given with a needle. It is approved for use in all people 6 months and older even those with chronic medical conditions and/or pregnant. About 2 weeks after vaccination, antibodies develop that protect against infection if exposed.

When:

Flu vaccinations will be given at Southwest Family Physicians in Middleburg Heights, Ohio starting September 15 and will be offered all though the flu season which lasts until May 2011. Flu vaccine can be given by special appointment or at any regular appointment with our physicians.

Please contact us to make an appointment to receive your flu vaccination.
